Introduction

That was the time before the Goddess of all the lesser gods drove a crystal slate across the horizon, forever separating men from the heavens. The slate covered the whole sky, the stars disappeared and darkness became the only characteristic of the night. Now only the crystal corridor - the "Gate to Heavens" - allowed those on earth to reach heaven itself.

It was during this time that those some would call Angels appeared. While not nearly as powerful as the gods, they possessed the ability to greatly influence human kind. In order to ensure their power did not grow to match those of the gods, the Goddess appointed a gatekeeper to forever stand vigilant at the crystal corridor, allowing none to pass. This gatekeeper, himself a god, became known as "The Guardian."

These beings, these Angels, began to absorb the energies of nature itself. This inherently changed them, and as there is day and night the angels were divided into those of the Light and those of Darkness. Those of the light strove to purify the world and lead mankind towards good. The dark ones strove to gain power for themselves - both physical power and the harnessing of energies some would call magic.

Mankind has always been attracted to the powerful, and the power of the dark ones attracted them so. Soon they began to worship them as though they were gods, and as they began to practice what they worshipped, the world was plunged into chaos and strife.

Fearing that chaos of powers dark would reach out to heaven, The Guardian made the decision to close the gates. When the crystal corridor was sealed, the dark god of hell itself awoke from his slumber. The world was ravaged by beasts unseen before and monsters so mighty they vanquished the greatest warriors.

"Take up my sword, my child and fight! Fight for our lives and fight for the hope that one day our children would know nothing but the joy of living. That one day we can once again look upon the sky and see the stars."
